Stylists

Kathleen

One of the best memories as a young girl was going to a salon for my haircut. The smell of the products, the snip of the scissors, the stylist that worked there, and the people who came to get their hair done, is what inspired me to become a hair stylist. Nothing was better than getting my hair shampooed. Just the sound of the water being turned, and the steam that would come up around my head was fun for me. The best part was that each client that came in left feeling good and looking beautiful. I would watch, and think to myself, I want to do that! That is my goal for each of my clients at Park Avenue Hair Studio. I want them to feel at home when they arrive, and beautiful when my they leave. I have been the proud owner of our successful salon since 1983, with the help of my talented team we have been able to not only provide up-to-date modern cuts, colors, styling, excellent nail services and exceptional customer service, we also give back to the community, by donating services or products when needed. We believe that as a small business it's important to be in touch with our surrounding community. Over the years I have attended seminars, classes and workshops to remain current with trends in all aspects of the beauty industry; I believe that it's essential to stay fresh and cutting-edge. I strive for excellence in my art and to always remain as excited about being in a salon as I did when I was that young girl getting my hair cut.

When I turned sixteen I started working in salons shampooing and assisting and developed a passion for the art of hair. When high school came to an end I immediately enrolled into beauty school. I went long hours so I could finish early and received my license at the age of nineteen. Since then I have been working behind the chair, building relationships, advancing my skills and enhancing my education. I absolutely love my job whether it be cutting and styling to coloring and waxing. Even just being there to lend an ear, there's never a day where I have to "work."

I began my career in 1982. My first professional job was at a salon that catered to the "weekly roller sets". Great experience for a new stylist in how to construct a style that lasts! The next salon I worked at was actually owned by a barber which gave me extensive experience in clipper cuts and scissor over-comb techniques. I brought my newly developed skills to Park Avenue Hair Studio in 1987 and have enjoyed expressing my passion for this industry, through my work and my relationships with clients, ever since. My growth as a stylist has continued through further education, development of additional techniques and listening to my clients needs. When you sit in my chair my goal is to have a mutual understanding on how to achieve the look you want. Once we have that connection, it is endless where we can go from there.
